Costs and Fees
Shipping & Handling

The costs and fees associated with enrolling in Nebraska's High School are described below. Please note that some of these fees are optional based on the course options you select.

Course Fee: The course fee includes course content (including evaluations, projects, activities, and examinations), instructional support, access to our online course management system Way Cool. The course fee is $140 per course (language courses are $280 per course because they are a year-long course). Nebraska residents receive a 10% discount on course fees.

Materials: Required materials for courses, including textbooks, are listed with the course description. All materials may be purchased directly from the high school. In many courses used textbooks have been selected in order to reduce the cost to the customer. In those courses, the cost listed is the price of the used textbook. If a material is used in another course (most often in a two-semester course), it is noted next to the material.

Syllabus and Handbook (print courses only): A print syllabus (or syllabus and handbook) is required for students enrolling in print courses. Purchase of the printed syllabus and handbook is optional for students enrolling in online courses. The cost of syllabi and handbooks vary by course. See course descriptions for course-specific costs.

Administrative Fee: A $30 administrative fee is assessed for each course. The administrative fee covers the cost of processing as well as shipping and handling materials. Non-refundable.

New Student Processing Fee: All students enrolling in a Nebraska Independent Study High School course will be assessed a one-time non-refundable new student fee of $10.

Mail Processing Fee (optional): Available for print courses only. If you would prefer to submit assignments and examinations via regular mail rather than via Way Cool, you should pay the $15 Mail Processing fee. When you pay this fee, you will receive all necessary materials in order to submit assignments and examinations via mail. You still have the option of submitting assignments and examinations through Way Cool. Non-refundable.

E-mail Alert (optional): An alert will be sent to the student's e-mail address when a written assignment has been graded by a teacher. Not recommended for e-graded courses. Fee is $20 per course. Non-refundable.

Other optional fees:

Iowa Test of Educational Development: ($50) Students may take this test in order to gauge current educational progress before enrolling in Nebraska courses. Students wishing to transfer credit from a non-accredited or international program are required to take this test in order to validate credits.

Language Placement Test: ($30) If students are to succeed in a foreign language course, it is important that they be enrolled at the appropriate level. Therefore, students who have not previously enrolled in Nebraska's High School and who want to enroll in French, Latin or Spanish at the second-semester level or higher are encouraged to take a language placement test. Note: $20 of this fee will be credited should you enroll in the foreign language course.

Transcript Evaluation Fee: ($30) Our academic advisers can evaluate your current high school transcript in order to determine which credits you need to earn a diploma. This service is helpful for students who are considering enrolling in Nebraska's diploma program. Please note that while a student may have several school transcripts to be evaluated, this fee applies only once.

NOTE: For the above optional services, payment must accompany the request before service will be provided.

Electronic Check Re-presentment Policy: In the event that your check is returned unpaid for insufficient or uncollected funds, we may re-present your check electronically. In the ordinary course of business your check will not be provided to you with your bank statement.

* Special Shipping Requirements: If you want your materials sent by a method other than UPS Ground, Federal Express Ground, or equivalent within the contiguous 48 states, please provide us with specific shipping instructions, any special delivery directions and your telephone number. You will be charged for the costs of shipping by the specified method.

For shipping outside of the contiguous 48 states: Materials are sent via an air package service to students not residing within the contiguous 48 states. You will be charged the cost of shipping the materials via the air package service.
