Costs & Fees

All courses require tuition and an administrative fee. Other costs vary by course.

Tuition
ISHS tuition includes access to online course content (syllabus), including evaluations, projects, activities and progress tests, as well as instructional support and access to the online course management system, WayCool. The tuition is $140 per course (language courses are $280 per course because they are worth 10 credits/1 Carnegie unit). Nebraska residents receive a 10% discount off the tuition.

Administrative Fee
A $50 administrative fee is assessed for each course. Non-refundable.

Materials
Materials for courses, including textbooks, are listed with the course description. All materials may be purchased directly from the high school.

Printed Course Content (syllabus) and Handbook
Print materials are required for students enrolling in print-only courses and optional for students accessing the course content (syllabus) online. The cost for syllabi and handbooks varies by course.

Transcript Evaluation Fee
A one time $30 fee will be assessed for students transferring credit into the ISHS. All students are required to provide an official transcript (with translated copy as appropriate).

Other Optional Services/Fees

Language Placement Test
($30) If students are to succeed in a foreign language course, it is important that they be enrolled at the appropriate level. Therefore, students who have not previously enrolled in the Independent Study High School and who want to enroll in French, Latin or Spanish at the second-year level or higher are encouraged to take a language placement test. Please note: $20 of this fee will be credited toward the tuition should the student enroll in the foreign language course.

Make-up Tests
($20 per test) The opportunity to retake a test that has been failed is offered at the discretion of the instructional service teacher. Make-up tests, also referred to as B tests or retake tests, will not be issued to raise a low (but passing) grade.

Re-enrollment
Students may re-enroll in an ISHS course to improve their final grade. Contact Customer Service for re-enrollment costs and processing.

Mail Processing Fee
($15 per course) Selecting Mail Processing allows for tests to be mailed to the proctor, and should be selected if the proctor is unable to download tests from the Internet.  In addition, scan cards, lesson wrappers and addressed envelopes will be mailed to the student, allowing the student to submit evaluations and progress tests via postal mail rather than online. Due to the nature of some courses, online submission of coursework is not an option, and Mail Processing is required. Non-refundable.

Switch Fee
($30 per course) Students who wish to switch their enrollment from one course to another will be assessed a one-time $30 switch fee. The switch must occur within 30 days of enrollment. An additional fee of $15 per completed evaluation, project or test will also be assessed.

Extension Fee
($35 per course) Students have one year from the date of enrollment to complete their courses. Once the course enrollment has expired, they have up to 90 days to request an extension. An extension will result in 90 additional days, from the date the course expired. Contact Customer Service for enrollment extensions. After the 90-day extension period has passed and you wish to complete the course, you will be required to reregister and pay full tuition and fees.
Ninety days prior to the course expiration date, a letter is sent to the proctor as a reminder that the course will soon expire. The course expiration date is also noted in WayCool. Additional extension requests are reviewed by ISHS administration on a case-by-case basis.

Shipping Charges

Shipping charges for course materials apply to all orders within the U.S., as well as to international shipments, and are to be paid at the time the order is placed.
ISHS customers will be charged the cost associated with shipping course materials at the time of sale. Shipping costs are based on total package weight, shipping address zip code, carrier, and any expedited delivery requests. If you want your materials sent by expedited shipping for quicker delivery, or a method other than UPS Ground, Federal Express Ground (or equivalent within the contiguous 48 states), please provide us with specific shipping instructions.  

International shipments
All international shipments are sent FOB Lincoln, Nebraska. You will be responsible for all shipping costs, as well as any brokerage costs, duties and tariffs that may be assessed.
