Refunds

Course Fee: If a student cancels an enrollment or drops a course, a refund in the course fee minus $30 for processing per course enrollment and $15 for each assignment or test will be processed upon receipt of a written request up to 30 days from the date of enrollment.

In the event the student is enrolled with credits transferring to the local school, the registration/records office requires official notification from the local school that a student is dropping a course.

Materials: Course materials may be returned for a refund if they meet the following criteria:

  • The materials are returned within 30 days of the date of the purchase.
  • The materials are currently used in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Independent Study High School.
  • The materials have not been used. (Science kits, mathematics kits, art kits, CDs, and disks must be returned — unopened with seal intact — in their original packaging.)
  • The materials are returned in salable condition.

Please note:
a) The refund is made only to the original purchaser of the independent study course materials. b) High school personnel determine if the materials are acceptable for refund. c) If materials are returned that do not meet the above criteria, no refund will be granted and the materials will not be returned.

There are no refunds for purchase of the e-mail alert fee, mail processing fee or the new student enrollment fee.

Refund or replacement of missing, damaged, or incorrect materials:
Refunds or replacement of materials damaged during transit are governed by shipping company rules. Noting visible damage on the delivery receipt and notifying the Customer Service unit immediately will increase the likelihood of a full refund or replacement. Shipper rules may require written notice of damage at the time of delivery, written notice of damage within 15 days of receipt, original shipping cartons, packing and contents availability for inspection and retention until the claim is concluded, or other rules.

When materials arrive, examine the contents of the package to ensure that the order was complete and that there are no missing or incorrect materials. Requests for refund or replacement of defective or incorrect materials must be made within 30 days of receipt.

Return Shipments
If returning course-related materials for a refund, please include a copy of the original packing slip that is enclosed in the original shipment, and use the return shipping labels that are also in the original shipment. (Including a copy of the packing slip will help expedite the processing your refund request.) Return materials to:
