Selecting a Proctor

Proctors play a key role in the experience of every UNL Independent Study High School student. The main function of each proctor is to administer closed-book tests, but they may also aid in setting schedules and establishing effective study habits.

Therefore, selecting the right proctor will lead to a positive experience with each course. The following guidelines will lead to selecting an effective proctor:

• The best choice for a proctor is typically an educator. This may include teachers, counselors, administrators, head librarians or extension educators.
Military families may use base education officers, chaplains and higher level commissioned officers to serve as proctor.
Students living overseas may use embassy or consulate officials to serve as proctor.
Family members may not serve as proctors.

If you have any questions regarding your choice of proctor, contact Lisa Bourlier at 402-472-4338 or lbourlier2@unl.edu .
