Tutoring Guidelines
The goal of the Independent Study High School is to cultivate independent higher-level thinking skills in students.
We consider tutors as facilitators of such learning. Tutors should always work with students through appropriate practices to assure academic honesty, as defined in the Independent Study High School Student Handbook:
• Tutors should have enough knowledge about the subject to guide students through rigorous, high school level content.
• At no time should the tutors do course work that is the responsibility of the students.
• Tutors should not have access to answer keys at any time while working with students.
• Tutors may supplement course materials as needed to assist the students' learning.
• Tutors may assist the students in utilizing course materials.
• Tutors should be comfortable contacting the Independent Study High School teachers for their guidance and direction about how to provide support to students.
